Carpet paving for wooden stairs

Recently, many customers have asked me about the selection and installation of stair carpets. I would like to organize them for your reference.
【1】 Firstly, self suction step pads are definitely not recommended. Because using only anti slip plastic or built-in double-sided adhesive to fix the step pad cannot guarantee that it will not loosen during long-term use. Once it becomes loose, it’s not a big deal, but a big deal of falling.
【2】 It is not recommended to lay stairs on carpets that are too thick. The reason is that the carpet is thick and not easy to bend, and it will bulge. The staircase carpet emphasizes a tight fit, which can provide anti slip effect.
【3】 Color selection
If there is a large area of hard ground in the house, the soles of the feet will carry floating ash from the hard ground and rub against the carpet. It is recommended to choose gray or dark tones, which are more resistant to dirt.
If your home is covered with a large area of carpet, you can choose a light colored staircase carpet according to your preference, because the carpet absorbs dust and there is no floating dust on the surface.

&&&Paving method
1. Glue. The adhesive fixation effect is still very good, but for wooden stairs and ceramic tile stairs, when replacing carpets in the later stage, the damage to the stair floor is relatively large, and the original adhesive is not easy to remove. So glue is generally used for carpet laying on rough stairs.
2. Air nail gun. This method is only used for wooden stairs. It’s fixing the carpet with nails. Very sturdy and without the smell of glue, but it can cause significant damage to the stairs. So, for stairs with carpets fixed in this way, ordinary wooden boards are usually laid on the stairs in advance, rather than directly laying wooden floors.
3. Metal pressure strip
As shown in the figure. The aesthetic appeal of metal pressure strips is commendable, and the damage to wooden stairs is relatively small. The degree of firmness is also more than sufficient.

Finally, let’s talk about measurement.
Firstly, measure the dimensions of the staircase landing, namely length and width
Then measure the length and width of the stair treads, as well as the height of the facade
The length, width, and height of each step may vary slightly, so choose the maximum size as the standard size.
Finally, the actual area of the entire staircase carpet is the area of the platform plus the total area of the steps. Then calculate the required carpet area based on the width of the carpet itself.
Calculation of total area of steps: length of step surface * (width of step surface+height of facade) * number of steps
